senior minister

CRAIG SCOTT

Craig joined the ministry in Fairfield  in December of 2004 after ministering in churches in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Illinois.

Craig grew up in Hammond, Indiana with his parents and two older brothers. He grew up in church and accepted the Lord at the age of ten.

Craig and his wife Kelly met at St. Louis Christian College and were married in 1990. They have two children Kelsey and Connor. Craig enjoys basketball, cheering for the Cubs, and spending time with his family.

associate minister

JEFF LYON

Jeff, his wife Lisa and their two children, moved to Fairfield in March of 2004 to become the Worship Minister at FCC Fairfield.  He transitioned to Associate Minister in the early spring of 2016.

Jeff grew up in Garrett, IN, and graduated from  Great Lakes Christian College in 1985.  Little did he know, as he moved back to Garret in 1986, that he was close to St. Joe, where Lisa lived. They didn't meet until 1988, 18 months before they were married in May of 1989.  They spent 11 years in campus ministry at the University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio, before coming to Fairfield.

Jeff loves to cook and one of his hobbies is photography.   Lisa loves teaching the preschool Sunday School class at First Christian.

Children's Minister

Caleb Higginbotham

Caleb became a part of the ministry team at FCC in September of 2017. He is a graduate of Johnson University where he studied children’s ministry. Before coming to Fairfield Caleb served in churches in Texas and Georgia, and was a missionary at a children’s home in Mexico City.

Caleb grew up in Georgia and lived for three years in Mexico City, where he met his wife Diana. Caleb is a Braves fan, enjoys being outdoors camping, working with his hands, reading comics, and being with people. Both Caleb and Diana are passionate about giving kids the fundamental tools and knowledge to become fully developing disciples of Christ.

Caleb and Diana were married in 2016. Diana loves working with children and dreams of providing free, quality education to children that otherwise would not have the opportunity.

youth minister

Jacob Butcher

Jacob came to minister with First Christian in June of 2016.  He is a graduate of Lincoln Christian University.  He came back to his home state (he grew up in Palmyra, IL.) after spending some time in Mountain Home, AR. as the Youth Minister at First Christian in Mountain Home.

Jacob loves the outdoors.  He's a hunter, a bird watcher and even likes the Cardinals.  But more than that, he loves to spend time discipling and helping youth to grow into mature Christians.

Jacob married Kami in December of 2014.  Kami is a graduate of Lincoln University and is also a native Illinoisan, growing up in the Bloomington/Normal area.  She loves Pinterest and working with kids.

Worship leader

Nate Carter

Growing up in Fairfield, and at FCC as well, Nate started playing and leading worship as a teenager as part of the "Jacob's Well" band. Through his experiences (he's played on worship teams for a long time), talent and passion, God brought him to a point where he felt the need to follow God's promptings and be more involved in worship at FCC.  In early 2016, Nate was asked to become the lead worshiper for the congregation and he accepted!

Nate is married to Callie, a Wayne City girl (but we won't hold that against her), and they have three kids.

Interim teaching pastor

John Klockenga

Over the last couple of years, while our Senior Minister, Craig, is dealing with some health issues, John has been preaching on Sunday Mornings.  But this isn't the first time that John has been here at FCC. John was the Youth Minister at FCC Fairfield back in the '90s.  Many of the kids that he had in his youth group are still active here today... but now they have kids of their own.

When John preaches, it isn't just to pour out information.  He wants to allow the Holy Spirit to move and change hearts and minds through what he shares.  His goal, now, is the same as it was when he was a youth minister:  to build up the kingdom of God and to raise up God's people for God's service.

John is married to Dianna.  They have 5 children and gained a daughter-in-law in the summer of 2016.

Fcc Office Manager

Toby Hucker

Toby joined the staff at FCC in October, 2010 after 10 years with the American Cancer Society. First Christian Church holds a special place in Toby's heart, as she started attending here with her grandmother as a child.

Toby and her husband Doyle have one son, Brian, who is also a member of First Christian.

Secretary

Carol Jackson

Carol began her duties in the office in June of 2005. She was the teacher for First Christian's preschool for 13 years prior to that. She, and her husband Glenn, have two children, Erin and Tim.

Carol is instrumental in keeping the church running and keeping the ministers in line (which is in and of itself a full time job!).
